Star Scared By His Own Movie
Ananova, August 6, 2002

Joaquin Phoenix says he found his new film quite scary the first time he watched it.

He co-stars with Mel Gibson in the movie Signs — which is the latest from Sixth Sense director M Night Shyamalan.

Phoenix admits the first time he saw the whole film he got wrapped up in the suspense.

"It's kind of embarrassing, but I did jump a few times," he said. "I was pretty scared. And I laughed, I think Mel is so funny.

"You work on a film, and you see 20 takes. When it's all put together, it's all flowing, there's a continuity. And if it's done right, you get just as swept away as anyone else."

Signs is released in the UK on September 13.
