SUMMARY: A poem about Maximus and his feelings as he waits in the Coliseum for the games to begin.
A dream
a frightful dream
life is
my heart beating as the taste of death leaked in
Hell's gates closed
... for now
one minutes time
just waiting
few last memories run through my head
a voice calls out,
"win the crowd and you'll win your freedom!"
feeling the blood stained sand beneath my feet
i see commodus...
all fear rushes from my body
filling me with pure hatred
the vulgar crowd chanting
"Caesar! Caesar! Caesar!"
it echoes through Rome for eternity
He'll bring them death,
and they'll love him for it
a hush runs through the audience
Hells gates open
can almost feel the beating heart of Rome
the blood bath begins
a dream
a frightful dream
life is.
