Why does the site need contributions?

Like any other service, the running and maintenance of this site costs money. It's not an expense that would make a lawyer cry, but the domain name, the hosting and all the add-on services combine to make a sum that is a little bit frightening to a student on a toast-and-beans budget. Until now I have happily paid for this from my own pocket, but as the site has got more popular, providing enough space and bandwidth has become much more expensive.

I am not trying to make a profit. I don't want to. I run JP:ITF because I enjoy it and I want others to enjoy it too, but unfortunately it is getting hard to support the costs on my own. Rather more fortunately, I am told that some people are eager to give a helping hand. That is the purpose of this page.

How to help

At the bottom of this page there is a button that will take you to a paypal donation page. From this page you will be able to either transfer funds from your own paypal account or from your credit/debit card. You choose how much you donate. Enter your details — these will be kept completely secure and never revealed to any third party — and write a litte note to us if you want to make things a bit more personal.

Once you submit all your info, paypal will ask me to approve of the transaction and the money will be transferred into my paypal account. I will then be able to use the funds to help pay for JP:ITF.

A note about currency: In order to make things easier for you, you will be able to make a donation in US Dollars, Pounds Sterling or Euros — just click on the correct button. If you live in a country where none of these currencies are used, please select Pounds Sterling and your bank will do all the currency exchange work for you. For an accurate conversion to Sterling from your own currency, try this site.

Things you need to know

Donations are completely voluntary. You will never be asked to make a contribution in return for any services from JP:ITF. If anyone asks you to do so, it isn't me. One of the things I love about JP:ITF is that it is free for any fan of Joaquin to come and find out about him or to meet other fans. For the same reason, those who choose to donate will not be publicly acknowledged. This is because I don't want anyone to feel pressured and I certainly don't want it to become a vehicle for purchasing any kind of status. Donations will be listed on the messageboard in order that you will know what has become of your money, but names will not be attached. I hope everyone understands why I feel this policy is the best way to go.

Your donations will only ever be used for purchasing services related to JP:ITF. To reiterate, I am not making a profit. For anyone who donated towards the ezboard and saw their money buy Gold status only days before the whole network collapsed, I can assure you that this donations service is far more secure and if something similarly catastrophic ever did happen at the site, I would return your money instantly. I want you to feel sure that your money is going towards JP:ITF and your enjoyment of it.
