PARENTHOOD (1989)

Director: Ron Howard
Screenplay: Lowell Ganz & Babaloo Mandel
Runtime: 118mins approx
Country: USA
Rating: PG-13 (USA); 15 (UK)
Synopsis: The Buckmans are a modern family facing the age-old dilemma of trying to raise children the "right"
way. At the centre of the storm is Gil, who manages to keep his unique sense of humour while trying to maintain a career
and be a loving husband and parent, all at the same time. As Gil and the rest of the Buckmans discover, being the perfect
parent often means just letting kids be themselves. Joaquin plays Garry, a sexually-confused teenager who is deeply
affected by the divorce of his parents and carries porn around in a brown paper bag. Only when the straight-talking Tod
moves in with his sister Julie does he find someone to open up to.
